Half a Day, Full of Value: What Personal Brand Photos Can Do for You
This seems like a long article. BUT I promise you, it is likely all you need to read to decide whether professional brand photos are right for your company.
Let’s have your cup of coffee ready, and here we go!
Photoshoot for Christine Sveen - Founder of The Plnr, The Launch Club, and Sne Design.
Let’s be honest. Booking a personal brand photoshoot can feel like a big decision—especially if you are not comfortable being in one!
You might be wondering: Will I really love the way I look (this time)? Will I get enough out of it? Will the images even be beneficial long-term?
The short answer? Yes. And probably more than you expect.
Here’s a closer look at what actually happens during my half-day personal brand photography session—and how you can get the most out of it, from Instagram posts to PR features.
First things first: why personal brand photography matters
Personal brand photography isn’t just about looking good online (although yes, you will!).
It’s about showing people who you are, what you do, and why it matters. And the way you show up visually—on your website, on social media, anywhere—makes a big difference.
I am sure you’ve noticed how you react sensor-wise when reading an article, a story, along with images that transport you into the story itself?
Your mind sensing it, you could understand the situation of that person better. You even relate to your own life with the article you just read.
Or perhaps in a movie theatre, clip by clip, you are taken and so absorbed in what happened in the story.
Words alone can’t do that. With images, it confirms to your brain that it connects.
Having images that feel like you helps potential clients trust you, connect with you, and feel confident about working with you.
But not only that, these images share the same tone and similar contrast or softness from one photo to another. It is consistent across all platforms and your website.
What can you actually use the photos for?
SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
Instagram: Behind-the-scenes, desk setups, relaxed portraits, detail shots. You can build a strong, consistent visual style without it looking forced.
LinkedIn: Use clean, confident portraits and “you at work” photos to share your expertise without coming across as salesy.
Pinterest: Pin your images alongside blog posts, service pages, or inspiration boards—especially if your work is creative or visually appealing.
Facebook ads: A natural image of you in your element often works better than a stock photo. People stop scrolling when they see a real person.
YOUR WEBSITE
About page: Show the human behind the business. A simple portrait that matches your brand can do so much here.
Sales/services pages: Add images that show you in action—working with clients, creating, thinking. It makes your offer feel real and professional.
Contact page: Even just a friendly photo next to your contact form can make the whole experience feel warmer.
Blog posts: If you write blog content, having a little library of images makes each post feel more polished (and more you).
PR AND PROMOTION
If you're ever featured in an article, podcast, or event, those outlets usually ask for a photo. Imagine how nice it would be to already have something that looks professional and on-brand.
You can also use your photos in press kits, speaker pages, newsletters, and even proposals. They’re your go-to assets when you want to show up with confidence.
So... is half a day enough?
Absolutely. A half-day session with me is relaxed but purposeful. We plan ahead so we can capture a mix of:
Natural portraits
Lifestyle images (think: your workspace, favourite coffee shop, cosy corners)
You in action (writing, designing, consulting, creating—whatever fits your work)
Flat lays or detail shots, if they suit your brand
Optional outfit or location changes to add variety
With the proper prep, these sessions often give you 4–5 months’ worth of visual content—sometimes more. That’s plenty for rotating through different platforms, launches, or updates.

What’s the real value?
Let’s break it down simply.
What you get:
A cohesive image library
Photos that actually “look” like you in your relaxed and yet elevated state.
It matches your brand and aesthetic
Content you can use again and again
Confidence to show up online
Why it’s useful:
Keeps your brand consistent across platforms
Builds trust and connection
Save time (and stress) every time you want to post or submit your photos as a podcast guest or a speaker.
You’re no longer hiding behind outdated photos
“But is it worth the cost?”
It’s totally normal to hesitate when investing in your business, especially in something that doesn’t feel urgent. But here’s the thing: the right brand photos aren’t just a “nice to have”—they help you get seen, get remembered, and get chosen. Your business will look more professional with your brand photos.
When your images work across your website, social, marketing, and PR—they’re not a one-time cost. They’re something you use again and again to grow and strengthen your business.
And the confidence to finally show up online as yourself? That’s pretty valuable, too.
We will work together to prepare the photo shoot, from the deep dive questionnaire about your company to the outfit / props discussion, the photoshoot itself, and almost 20 hours of careful editing (I am doing this myself) to give a natural and elevated look to all the photos we take that day. You get all of them.
A few tips to get the most out of it:
When we have our prep meeting, come with a short list of how you plan to use the images (Instagram, blog, LinkedIn, etc.)
Have a few props or tools of your work ready—anything that tells your story visually.
Choose outfits you feel comfortable and confident in
Let your surroundings speak for your vibe—natural light, textures, colour, it all helps
Since you will receive a deep dive questionnaire from me, this list can help you reflect on your brand/business and prepare how you want your photos to look.
Final thoughts
You don’t need hundreds of photos (even though that's what mostly my clients get)—you just need the right ones that you love the most. Thoughtfully taken, intentionally used. A half-day personal brand session gives you all of that and more.
If you're building your brand, pivoting your business, or just ready to finally show up online in a way that feels true to you, this kind of shoot is a brilliant place to start.
